News

It would be impossible to list every available pharmaceutical news source. The major media networks all have Web sites, usually available for no cost. There are other free Web sites, which offer industry news from wires such as Reuters and Associated Press among others. Also important are the various Internet news sites that carry industry news such as

Yahoo®Finance (http://finance.yahoo.com), CNNMoney (http:// money.cnn.com), and Bloomberg (http://www.bloomberg.com). News is generally delivered via one of two ways: either as a real-time feed directly from the wires, or as a collated and analyzed package put together by knowledgeable editors. For real-time news, the Internet news sources mentioned above are important as are the traditional news aggregators that allow users, for a fee, to access thousands of full text publications. Aggregators such as Factiva (http://www.factiva. com), Lexis/Nexis (http://wwwlexisnexis.com), and DIALOG® http://www.dialog.com) are well known in the information industry and have been key research tools for decades. DIALOG NewsEdge (http://dialog.newsedge.com) allows one to customize news feeds and set up profiles.

On a source level for real-time news there are several daily news outlets to highlight. PR Newswire, a unit of United Business Media, is a major outlet for press releases and other communications from over 40,000 corporate, government, association, labor, and nonprofit organizations worldwide. It can be accessed at http://www.prnewswire.com or through the news aggregators listed above. Scrip Daily News Alert (http:// www.scripdailynewsalert.com) is a push service that delivers a two-page briefing containing the headlines and summaries of key pharmaceutical news stories daily. FDC's Pink Sheet also has a daily news service (http://www.thepinksheet.com).
