• Minimum data collection period is 3 consecutive days, although 7 days is ideal

• The period of data collection should reflect the patient's usual routine (i.e., work day rather than a day off; or a combination of both)

• Patient must be instructed to void as normal

Standard practice is to ask the patient to complete the FVC prior to a urologist appointment, as this can be analyzed as part of the initial examination. The patient is instructed to accurately record their voiding pattern, including the following parameters:

• Mandatory —time of voids (including nighttime voids)

—volume of each void —number of incontinent episodes

• Additional —times and volume of fluid intake (can become tedious)

—record the presence and degree of urgency —use and number of incontinence pads
